Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Zelenskyy told Meloni that the Russian military struck today with ballistic missiles and attack drones. As a result, at least five people were killed in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson.
The leaders discussed prospects for joint work in Europe on missile defense against ballistic threats, to strengthen protection for everyone — both Ukraine and every country.
“We talked about the need for additional missiles for air defense systems, and we are very much counting on support. Italy has always provided principled help in protecting lives,” Zelenskyy said.
- Zelenskyy in Ankara today will also meet with European Council President António Costa and members of Congress.
- A meeting between the president and his American counterpart Donald Trump is scheduled for 14:30.
