Russian propaganda outlets are actively promoting the “Fifth International Teleconference”, organised by Moscow’s diplomatic structures in Vienna, the Center for Countering Disinformation reported.

The teleconference is being organised by Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s “ambassador-at-large”, who, according to the CCD, regularly disseminates Russian disinformation about Ukraine under the guise of diplomatic activity.

The announced teleconference will focus on the alleged “terror of the Kyiv regime against the civilian population of Kherson Region”.

“Unsubstantiated accusations that Ukraine is committing crimes against its own citizens in territories temporarily occupied by Russia are a typical tactic of Russian propaganda. By spreading such narratives through its diplomatic structures, the Kremlin is attempting to justify the occupation of Ukrainian territories and the continuation of the war, while also diverting the international community’s attention from its own crimes against humanity in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories,” the CCD said.

The Centre added that Russia has established a regime of terror against civilians in the occupied territories of Ukraine, including so-called “filtration” procedures, the abduction of children, arbitrary arrests and the torture of those deemed disloyal.
