In the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the Russian authorities have intensified the ideological indoctrination of students at teacher training institutions.
This was reported by the National Resistance Center.
At a teacher training college in occupied Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhya Region, students attended a separate lecture on the “heroes of the Great Patriotic War” and modern “patriotism” as interpreted by Russia.
Formally, such events are presented as “historical education”, but the main aim of these lectures is to prepare a new generation of teachers who will later educate children in the temporarily occupied territories using Russian ideological teaching materials.
“During such meetings, students are subjected to the cult of ‘victory frenzy’, the glorification of the Soviet army, and today’s Russian military,” the Centre noted.
Particular emphasis is placed on fostering loyalty to the occupation authorities and justifying the war against Ukraine through narratives about “fighting Nazism”.
After the lectures, students are additionally involved in team games, discussions and “patriotic” events designed to reinforce Kremlin narratives. In this way, Russia is attempting to build an education system in the temporarily occupied territories in which future educators themselves become carriers and disseminators of occupation propaganda.
