On the night of 20 August, a Russian Geran-type drone entered Moldova’s airspace and then left it heading toward Ukraine.

The country’s Ministry of Defence reported this.

The National Army’s airspace surveillance systems detected and tracked the unauthorized flight at 03:16.

“The unmanned aerial vehicle, preliminarily identified as a Shahed 136 (Geran 2), illegally flew over the state border of Ukraine, over the settlement of Kotlovyna in the Reni district of the Republic of Moldova, heading toward the village of Etulia, the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia,” the ministry said.

The aircraft later left national airspace at 03:22, moving from the direction of the village of Etulia toward Ukraine.

The ministry stressed that the flight took place during the Russian Federation’s air attack on Ukraine that night.
