On the night of 11 September, units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck the Saratov oil refinery. Fires were recorded on the plant’s premises following the strike.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Unmanned Systems Forces.
The extent of the damage is still being assessed. The operation was carried out by operators of the 1st Separate Unmanned Systems Centre together with the Security Service of Ukraine and the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence. The distance to the target was about 600 km.
The General Staff stressed that work against the enemy’s key military-industrial facilities is continuing.
- The Saratov refinery is part of Russia’s Rosneft structure and is one of the key oil-processing facilities in the Volga region. Its design capacity is about 7 million tonnes of oil per year. The plant produces more than 20 types of petroleum products, including petrol, diesel fuel and other fuels used to meet the needs of Russian forces.
