Emergency rescue operations have been completed in Odesa at a 25-storey residential building damaged in a Russian attack on 12 September. Two people were killed and a further 25 were injured in the strike.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
During the emergency rescue operation, responders rescued seven people, including two children.
Consequences of Russia’s shelling of Odesa Region on 12 September
- On the morning of 12 September, the Russian army carried out a large-scale missile and drone attack on Odesa Region. The shelling damaged residential buildings, a hotel with a rehabilitation centre, gas pipelines and a locomotive depot.
- In Odesa, a Russian strike damaged a 25-storey residential building. Fires broke out in flats on the 21st to 23rd floors, and the upper floors of the building were partially destroyed.
- Earlier, 37 people were reported injured in Odesa. Those affected included a five-month-old baby and a 17-year-old boy. One of the injured was hospitalised in a serious condition, while most of the others were in a moderate condition.
- In Chornomorsk, a residential building was destroyed in the Russian attack and three more were damaged. A gas pipe was also damaged, after which a fire broke out in one of the buildings.
- In addition, a Russian drone struck a hotel with a rehabilitation centre. The building and cars parked nearby were damaged. Eleven people were injured in the strike, including six with limited mobility.
