Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has urged EU and NATO countries to tighten sanctions against Russia following Russian shelling of a border area near Yahodyn in the Volyn region.
He wrote about this on the social network X.
"Russia’s barbaric strikes on the Ukraine–Poland border area in Yahodyn are not merely a continuation of attacks on our state borders.
This is not merely a continuation of attacks on our state borders. It is Putin’s terror, ‘knocking’ right at the doors of the EU and NATO," Sybiha stressed.
He called on international partners to act immediately.
"Russian barbarians are standing at your gates, dear partners. Act now: bring the full weight of your sanctions to bear on Putin’s aggressive regime. Make Moscow feel the consequences of its terror," the minister said.
Sybiha urged partners not to limit themselves to partial measures, but to impose the toughest possible restrictions.
"Not half-measures, but uncompromising, powerful steps. A full trade embargo. Full entry bans. Full sanctions against the military-industrial complex," the foreign minister wrote.
According to him, Russia must understand that its aggression will have serious consequences.
"Putin must understand that his barbarism will meet a resolute response that will raise the cost of war for him to an unacceptable level. This is the only way to stop him," Sybiha emphasised.
As Suspilne reports, citing a comment by Valentyna Chernysh, spokesperson for the Volyn Customs Service, on the morning of 13 September a petrol station was damaged as a result of an attack by a Russian drone near the international border crossing point “Yahodyn–Dorohusk” on the border with Poland. Falling debris set fire to the petrol station premises and several lorries parked nearby.
During the air raid alert, all operations at the border were suspended and people remained in shelters. As of 10:00 on 13 September, the “Yahodyn–Dorohusk” border crossing point was operating as normal.

- In Khmelnytskyi region, after an enemy drone fell, a fire broke out on the premises of an enterprise. No casualties.
- In Lviv region, a strike in Stryi has been reported. Utility and residential buildings near the railway station were damaged, as well as an outbuilding of a school in the Novyi Svit area.
- In the Carpathian region, one person has been reported injured following a Russian attack. An industrial facility was damaged.
- In Ternopil, a transport infrastructure facility and an industrial building were hit. One person was injured.
