On the night of 17 September, the Russians carried out a missile-and-drone strike on Ukraine. The enemy’s main targets were Kyiv Region, Odesa Region and Zaporizhzhia. Air defences neutralised 131 targets. 

This was reported by the Air Force. 

Starting from 18:00 on 16 September, the Russians launched:

  • Oniks anti-ship missiles from Russia’s Kursk Region;
  • Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk and Voronezh regions;
  • 4 Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea;
  • 10 “Banderol”/“Dan-T” from the airspace over the Sea of Azov;
  • 157 Shahed-type attack UAVs (more than half of them jet-powered) and “Parodiya” decoy drones from the following directions: Oryol, Millerovo – Russia, temporarily occupied Donetsk, Hvardiiske – temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defence shot down and suppressed 131 targets:

  • 7 “Banderol”/“Dan-T”;
  • 124 Shahed-type UAVs, Gerbera and drones of other types.

Impacts by enemy missiles and attack UAVs were recorded at 36 locations, as well as falling debris in 5 places.

As of the morning, the attack is ongoing, with several enemy UAVs in the airspace.
