The 66th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave has moved to offensive operations as part of Operation "Vivaldi" and announced the liberation of the settlement of Serednie from Russian forces.
This was reported by the brigade, which is subordinated to the Third Army Corps.
According to the military, the operation was carefully planned and consisted of several stages. The brigade’s units destroyed Russian troops in Serednie, after which they carried out a sweep of the settlement.
The brigade said that during the operation Ukrainian troops suffered no losses. The ground phase of the operation was carried out by infantry from the 1st Mechanised Battalion "KASSTA" and the 2nd Mechanised Battalion "Adolfivna’s Grandchildren".
Before the assault, Ukrainian troops conducted reconnaissance and fire preparation involving artillery and unmanned systems. This made it possible to suppress the enemy’s firing positions. After that, infantry from the mechanised battalions, supported by the tank battalion, delivered surprise strikes on Russian positions.
In parallel, the 3rd Mechanised Battalion "Fireflies" carried out assault operations south of Serednie. According to the brigade, Ukrainian troops pushed Russian forces back across the Nitrius River.
- The Third Army Corps is currently conducting an offensive in the north of Donetsk region. The operation is called "Vivaldi" and until 15 September it proceeded under a complete information blackout. The first stage was aimed at eliminating the infiltration of Russian troops and disrupting their logistics.
- The result of Ukrainian units’ search-and-strike actions was the destruction of enemy infiltration pockets in the area of Novoselivka, Oleksandrivka, Yarova and on the outskirts of Korovyi Yar. In total, about 75 square kilometres were cleared of infiltrators.
