Ambassadors of EU member states have approved Ukraine’s request to receive the eighth tranche under the Ukraine Facility programme. The formal decision is expected on 24 September at a meeting of the EU Competitiveness Council.

According to them, Ukraine could receive around €2.8bn. The final amount of the payment is due to be announced on 24 September.
The next tranche under the Ukraine Support Loan could also reach Ukraine by the end of September.
Among the conditions for receiving financial support are the introduction of taxation on income earned through digital platforms, taxation of international parcels worth up to €150, and the appointment by the Verkhovna Rada of three missing experts to the commission selecting members of the Accounting Chamber’s board.
The European Commission stresses the need for Ukraine to continue delivering on the reforms it has committed to. Commission spokesperson Guillaume Mercier said this includes, in particular, reforms in the areas of the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
“Our main message is that the reform plan under the Ukraine Facility and the Ukraine Support Loan was agreed with the Ukrainian authorities and ratified by the Verkhovna Rada. That is why it is now crucial to ensure progress in implementing it,” Mercier said.
According to him, the Kachka–Kos Plan has been incorporated into the updated Plan for Ukraine. The European Commission described the reforms it envisages as a priority and stressed the importance of delivering them.
- Earlier, Serhiy Koretskyy noted that the government would speed up work to meet its commitments under the Ukraine Facility in order to secure the maximum possible amount of funding from partners.
