The Czech authorities have tightened the rules governing the movement of Russian diplomats. From now on, they must notify officials of plans to cross the Czech border at least a day before travelling.
This was announced by Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka, ParlamentníListy.cz reports.
According to him, Russian diplomats must specify the purpose of the trip, place of residence, places they will stay and the mode of transport.
The minister explained that the decision was taken in response to similar restrictions introduced by Russia on Czech diplomats.
"If every Czech diplomat in Russia has had to report their movements since June, then naturally the same will apply to Russian diplomats here," the minister said.
- The Russian embassy in Prague and its consular section continue to operate in the Czech Republic. At the same time, after Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, the activities of Russia’s consulates general in Karlovy Vary and Brno were halted.
