Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi held a meeting with the Ministry of Defence on covering a $27bn shortfall this year.
According to the head of government, part of the funds is needed immediately for advance payments for supplies due to arrive in the first quarter of 2027.
“We must cover part of the amount from domestic sources by reallocating funds within existing programmes. This is a task for the Ministry of Finance. We are also counting on EU support. There are direct talks at the level of defence agencies with NATO countries and other partners to cover this need,” Koretskyi said.
He added that external financing linked to fulfilling agreements with international partners must also be unblocked.
“To do this, it is necessary to pass specific laws and decisions within the plan presented by the Government. We work closely with parliament every day,” the prime minister added.
