US President Donald Trump at a meeting at the UN General Assembly urged Volodymyr Zelenskyy to travel to Moscow for talks with Putin.
The Ukrainian president rejected the proposal, Bloomberg reports.
Sources told the outlet that Trump’s idea angered him. Responding to journalists’ questions about a possible visit to the Russian capital, Zelenskyy said emotionally that he could fly there only “on a missile”.
The US administration is trying to revive peace talks and is urging the sides to reach an agreement on a mutual halt to strikes on energy infrastructure amid a surge in global diesel prices. However, neither Ukraine nor Russia has agreed to this so far.
