In Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, a fire broke out at the Ilsky oil refinery overnight into 26 September following a drone attack.
This is according to Astra’s OSINT analysis.
Local residents said the attack began around midnight. They reported explosions and the operation of Russian air defences, after which a fire started on the refinery’s premises.
According to Astra, footage filmed by witnesses shows a blaze at the Ilsky refinery named after Aleksei Shamar in the settlement of the same name in Seversky District, about 50 kilometres from Krasnodar.
The facility has a capacity of about 6.6 million tonnes of oil a year. The plant operates six primary processing units.
The Ilsky refinery is one of the major oil-processing facilities in southern Russia. Its products, Astra says, are used in particular to supply Russian troops.
The facility receives crude via the pipeline system of the Russian company Transneft.
Meanwhile, in Russia’s Rostov Region, industrial sites and residential buildings were damaged as a result of an overnight drone attack.
Rostov Region Governor Yury Slyusar said five people were injured, including one child. According to him, one person was hurt in Taganrog and four more in Azov. All the injured have been taken to hospital.
Russian authorities said more than 30 drones were destroyed over Rostov-on-Don, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Novoshakhtinsk, Taganrog and Azov, as well as the Azovsky, Myasnikovsky and Neklinovsky districts.
In Azov, the governor said, the fall of a drone damaged blocks of flats and private houses, industrial facilities, a school, a palace of culture and cars. In Rostov, several cars were damaged.
