As a result of Russian shelling of Sumy region over the past day, a 69-year-old man was killed and another 15 people sustained injuries and trauma.

From the morning of 25 September to the morning of 26 September 2026, Russian forces carried out 40 attacks on 18 settlements across 12 communities in the region. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka districts.
In the Shalyhyne community, a 69-year-old man was killed in a strike by a Russian drone.
In the Sumy community, strikes with guided aerial bombs injured women aged between 47 and 74, a 12-year-old girl, a one-and-a-half-month-old baby girl, an 86-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy. Two more women aged 48 and 45 were also injured. In addition, a 14-year-old girl was wounded after a Russian UAV strike.
In the Seredyna-Buda community, a Russian drone wounded a 75-year-old man.
Medics were also approached by a 35-year-old man who was injured in a guided aerial bomb strike on 23 September, and a 56-year-old man who sustained injuries as a result of a Russian drone strike on 24 September.
Russian forces used artillery, mortars, FPV drones, other UAVs and guided aerial bombs.
As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure, private homes and blocks of flats, cars, non-residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged or destroyed. In particular, destruction was recorded in the Sumy, Seredyna-Buda, Hlukhiv, Znob-Novhorodske, Chernechchyna and Esman communities.
