The European Union will allocate €10 million to equip shelters in Ukraine, with part of the funding set to be directed towards installing mobile protective structures in frontline regions.
The Ministry for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine reported this.
The project предусматриває the installation of 840 mobile shelters along school routes in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions.
Deputy Minister for European Integration Artem Husak announced this during a meeting of the Shelter Coalition for Ukraine.
"It is fundamentally important to us that children are protected not only in schools, but also on the way to them. That is why we proposed that partners join the project to equip mobile shelters, which we plan to install along school bus routes," Husak said.
According to him, Ukrainian donor regions have already joined the project’s implementation. At the same time, additional international funding is needed to cover all requirements.
During the meeting, the EU announced the allocation of €10 million to equip shelters across Ukraine. Other international partners are currently determining possible levels of financial support.
Ukraine also plans to continue dialogue with the Government of Finland on further support. Finland, together with Ukraine, co-chairs the Shelter Coalition.
- The Civil Protection Shelter Coalition for Ukraine was launched in May 2025 by Ukraine and Finland. The EU, Lithuania, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland and the European Investment Bank have joined the initiative.
