Italy’s Army conducted trials of the Ukrainian ground robotic systems Droid TW-7.62 and Droid TW-12.7 made by the Ukrainian company DevDroid. The company reported this on Instagram.
Together with the Italian ground robotic system ULISSE from ABET HTS, the Ukrainian platforms were used to practise a range of tasks: supporting infantry, coordinating fire, evacuating the wounded and advancing further. They also separately checked technological compatibility — the transmission of video and coordinates, operation via a tactical network, and integration with NATO situational awareness systems.
“For DevDroid, this was also an opportunity to demonstrate to the Italian military the practical experience of using robotic systems that Ukraine has gained during the war,” the company said.
Droid TW-7.62 is a reconnaissance-and-strike ground robotic system from DevDroid, equipped with the Wolly 7.62 combat module for the KT-7.62 (PKT) machine gun. According to the company, the system has a maximum engagement range of up to 1 km, an operating range of up to 50 km, a speed of up to 10 km/h and an ammunition load of up to 800 rounds. The targeting system provides for manual control and AI-assisted auto-targeting. The Droid TW-7.62 is fitted with day and thermal imaging channels, a ballistic computer and LTE and Starlink communications.
The Droid TW 12.7 ground robotic system is equipped with a remotely operated turret for a 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine gun. According to the developers, it can engage lightly armoured targets such as infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers and armoured cars. The system is also capable of striking unarmoured targets. It can also be used for remote battlefield surveillance. Using built-in cameras and data transmission systems, the operator receives real-time situational awareness. The platform’s design, the developers say, ensures high mobility in difficult terrain and off-road conditions.

DevDroid added that the trials were part of its cooperation with Italy’s ABET HTS. The companies have already signed a memorandum of cooperation and are working on the next stage of engagement — deepening technological and manufacturing cooperation between the Ukrainian and Italian defence industries.
DevDroid is a Ukrainian defence technology company that develops systems for robotic warfare, enabling operations to be carried out and coordinated remotely, reducing risks to personnel and increasing accuracy, autonomy and safety.
