Ukrainian forces have struck a number of targets on Russian territory.

This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Over the past day, our long-range capabilities have worked effectively against facilities that support the aggressor’s war machine. Our sanctions have reached the Samara region, as well as occupiers’ positions, including Iskander missile crews in the Bryansk region. There are new results in the Black Sea,” the head of state said.

Zelenskyy stressed that “Russia must stop its reckless escalation”.

  • Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence reported that over the course of a week the Defence Forces struck three important Russian oil facilities at distances of 480 to 1,000 km from the front line.
  • Among the key targets was the Volgograd oil refinery. It is one of the largest fuel-sector facilities in Russia, with a processing capacity of about 15 million tonnes of oil per year. Products supplied to the Russian army include motor petrol, diesel fuel, aviation fuel and oil components.
  • An oil and petrochemical facility in the Samara region was also hit — a large-scale enterprise in gas processing and petrochemicals. It produces raw materials for explosives, including benzene, phenol, acetone and synthetic ethyl alcohol.
  • Another target for the Defence Forces was the “Samara” station — Europe’s largest tank farm and a key production hub in Russia’s main oil pipeline transport system. The total capacity of the tank farm is 1.6 million cubic metres.
