Based on materials from the Security Service of Ukraine, nine men who fought on Russia’s side against Ukraine’s Defence Forces in the Donetsk region have been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.

According to the investigation, those convicted were members of armed formations of Russia’s Southern Military District and took part in assaults on Ukrainian positions on the eastern front. Ukrainian troops captured them between December 2025 and July 2026 during fighting on the Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk and Lyman fronts.
Among those convicted is a resident of Kerch who, while in Samara, signed a contract with Russia’s Ministry of Defence and joined the 110th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade. After training at the Ilovaisk training ground, he was sent to storm Ukrainian positions near Bilytske, where he was captured.
Another four of those convicted are residents of the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk region who joined the 4th, 114th and 132nd Separate Motor Rifle Brigades of the Russian army. Three served as riflemen and one as a driver. According to the case materials, they attacked Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near Volnovakha and Pokrovsk.
Sentences were also handed down to two residents of the Luhansk region who served in Russia’s 7th and 88th Motor Rifle Brigades. One was a rifleman and the other a sapper. They initially fought in the Siversk area and were later redeployed to the Kramatorsk front.
Two more men from temporarily occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia region served as riflemen in Russia’s 488th Motor Rifle Regiment and the 90th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade. They took part in assaults on Ukrainian positions on the Lyman front.
The court found all nine guilty of high treason and collaborationist activity. Each was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The investigation was conducted by SBU investigators in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
