On Monday, EU foreign ministers intend to approve the largest sanctions list since the start of the war, aimed at Russia’s war machine.
She wrote about this on X, according to the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
She recalled that more than 80 Ukrainian civilians were killed over two days as a result of Russian strikes.
“What is more, Russia has stepped up its hybrid attacks against Europe, both EU member states and NATO allies. Suspending sanctions on Russian diesel fuel provides Moscow with more revenue to wage war,” her post says.
The diplomat noted that now is not the time to ease pressure on Russia, and Europe will not do so.
- Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said that the new package provides for sanctions against more than 1,500 individuals and companies. Among them are 743 individuals and 826 legal entities. In particular, Russia’s military-industrial complex has been targeted by the restrictions. The sanctions list is also proposed to include 77 Russian State Duma deputies elected from Ukraine’s occupied territories.
What About Fuel
- By the end of the year, Russia will sell close to 2 million tonnes of diesel to the global market and to the United States. To do this, Donald Trump has eased sanctions against Russia.
- Washington continues to insist on an end to strikes on Russian oil refineries. In return, the Americans are effectively demanding nothing from the Kremlin. At the very least, there is no longer any talk of an energy ceasefire.
- Trump explains the US need for diesel from Russia as concern for ordinary Americans. However, the real reason may lie in the business interests of his close circle.
