Ukraine and the European Commission discussed speeding up the fulfilment of interim benchmarks within the framework of talks on accession to the European Union and opening the remaining negotiation clusters.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi said this after speaking with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

According to the Prime Minister, the European Commission’s annual enlargement report is expected to be published this week.

Particular attention during the conversation was paid to the work of the joint IBAR Task Force with the European Commission. It was established by agreement between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

At present, the group’s main task is to accelerate the fulfilment of interim benchmarks under the first negotiation cluster, “Fundamentals”. This is a necessary condition for further progress in the negotiation process after the clusters are opened. Members of parliament and representatives of the President’s Office are also involved in this work.

In addition, the sides discussed international financial support for Ukraine and progress in implementing IMF programmes and the Ukraine Facility.
