US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Paris from 8 to 10 November, where he will take part in a meeting of foreign ministers from the Group of Seven countries.
Reuters reports.
The meeting will be Rubio’s first trip since the Republican Party’s defeat in the midterm elections.
A US State Department statement said Rubio would "advance American interests in engagement with his G7 counterparts".
France moved the meeting of the informal G7 group of countries, which also includes the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy and Japan, from Marseille to Paris amid nationwide protests.
- Rubio responded to rumours that he intends to leave the Trump administration and run for president. The US Secretary of State said he plans to work with the president until the end of his term. He declined to discuss his political plans for 2028.
