According to official reports, two Ukrainian servicemen were injured in Donbas on 1 January 2016 while no-one was killed, the presidential administration's spokesman for antiterrorist operation issues, Andriy Lysenko, has said at a briefing.

"No Ukrainian servicemen have been killed while two have been wounded over the past 24 hours," he said.

However, according to some posts on social media, one serviceman of the Aydar battalion died. According to Lysenko, he was not lost in combat. His death is being investigated.

No casualties at all were reported in the antiterrorist operation area from 29 to 31 December 2015.

Overall, 1,197 servicemen were killed in hostilities in east Ukraine. The bloodiest months were January and February 2015 when 268 and 284 servicemen were killed respectively.
