From the midnight to 1800, pro-Russian militants opened fire on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in Donbas 17 times.
The press centre of the ATO HQ has said that most shooting incidents were registered on the Svitlodarsk salient near separatist-controlled Horlivka. The occupants engaged ATO troops at strongpoints near Zaytseve and Mayorsk with harassing fire from small arms, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns.
The militants used small arms against ATO positions in Pisky and Opytne.
They opened aimed fire on ATO strongpoints near Maryinka and Luhanske with grenade launchers of various types.
Ukrainian servicemen did not return fire.
On 21 January, the situation in the ATO suddenly escalated, with the militants launching 69 shooting attacks over the day. The ATO troops did not lose anyone, however one serviceman was wounded near Maryinka, another hurt by a blast in Syze (Stanytsya Luhanska District).
