Inflation in Ukraine reached 0.9 per cent in January, the State Statistics Committee has said. Consumer prices increased by 0.7 per cent in December.

The prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks went 2.2 per cent up, alcohol 1.9 per cent down, clothes and shoes 4.6 per cent down, housing and utility bills 0.7 per cent up, household appliances 0.4 per cent up, health services 1.2 per cent up, and education 2.5 per cent up.

Compared with January 2015, inflation has reached 40.3 per cent.

Inflation in Ukraine in 2015 totalled 43.3 per cent, the highest figure since 1995.
