Switzerland to give Ukraine 200m dollars to replenish reserves

The presidents of Ukraine and Switzerland agreed on the provision of 200m dollars in the form of additional assistance, Petro Poroshenko's press service has said.

In the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann.

"The president thanked the Swiss government and people for the humanitarian and financial assistance in the amount of 350m dollars approximately.

The parties agreed on the provision of 200m dollars in the form of additional assistance for the replenishment of foreign reserves," the press service said.

The parties also negotiated ways to intensify Ukrainian-Swiss trade, economic and investment cooperation. With this in view, they agreed to hold the meeting of the Ukrainian-Swiss joint committee on trade-economic cooperation, preparation to the signature of respective bilateral documents and presentation of potential investment projects.

The sum in question is likely to be the loan whose issue was announced by the Swiss government last February. It is the country's contribution into a package of multilateral assistance to Ukraine.
