NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine is going to significantly increase the import purchases of gas to be pumped into underground storage facilities in the first ten days of July for the passage of the upcoming heating season, Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev told reporters on 30 June.
"We're planning to resume gas imports in July. We cannot give an exact date, but I think that this will be the first decade," he said. At the same time, Kobolev said that Naftogaz was in talks to buy gas both from Europe and from Russia. "We will choose depending on the price offer," he said.
Naftogaz will start buying gas to be pumped into USFs at its own expense. After July 20, it plans to conduct procurement through the EBRD loan, with which the company is now approving all the purchasing conditions.
Kobolev said that there was a possibility that part of the loan from the EBRD (the total amount of 300m euros) would be spent on the purchase of gas from Russia, but only if a suitable price offer.
