Over the past day, the Russia-backed militants 85 times opened fire on the positions of the antiterrorist operation troops in Donbass, the ATO press center reported on 1 August.
In the Donetsk sector, the enemy used 152 and 122 mm heavy artillery. In the area of Avdiyivka, terrorists fired over 100 rounds. Separatists fired various caliber mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns to fire on ATO positions in Opytne, Avdiyivka, Zaitsevo and Pisky. Mayorske, Kamyanka and Troyitske also had a rough night.
In the Mariupol sector, Shyrokyno and Mariyinka was shelled from mortars; Krasnohorivka was attacked from 82-mm mortars and small arms. Vodyane and Starohnativka were shelled from IFV-installed weaponry. Mariyinka, Starohnativka and Novotroyitske were under fire of enemy snipers.
Around 22:42, a subversive group of militants numbering up to five people was spotted in the Bohdanivka district. At the direction of Lugansk, the ATO position outside Novotoshkivske, Krymske and Novozvanivka were under random enemy fire from 82-mm mortars and rocket-propelled grenades. Ukrainian soldiers returned fire. Near Novooleksandrivka, Stanytsya Luhanska and Popasna the enemy fired grenade launchers.
