The new leadership of the Ministry of Health will unveil its strategy in a few weeks - in late August or early September, acting minister Ulana Suprun said on 2 August in an interview with LB.ua.
"There is a strategy developed by our team. In part, we have already discussed it with members of the government. But I do not think we will be ready to present it at the next meeting, that is, next week. In the first place, to be honest, many people, including those in the government, are not in Kyiv. Secondly, our team has not even come to the ministry as yet. I hope this will happen before the end of August or in early September. Then we will be ready to submit the strategy. In addition, the government also has requirements about who they would like to see in the working group that will deal with this strategy," Suprun said.
At the same time, the acting minister stressed that there have been several concepts and strategies of development of public health in Ukraine, but they have never been not implemented. "We are ready to do something – come to the ministry and work, instead of just writing and talking about concepts and strategies," she said.
The new health chief stressed that a lot of things can be done without strategy: "Something can be done within a short time through government regulations or orders issued by the Ministry, but we also need to work on the new bills, get the parliament and deputies involve."
On 27 July, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Suprun as acting minister of health starting 1 August. Suprun came to the Ministry as deputy minister just days before.
The Cabinet has stated that Suprun was given carte blanche regarding the formation of own team.
Suprun was born in Detroit in the USA. In the autumn of 2013, together with her husband she moved to Ukraine. During the Revolution of dignity I was in Kyiv on the Maidan. She worked in a medical office, then headed the humanitarian initiatives of the Ukrainian World Congress and founded the organization "Protection of the Patriots," which deals with training on tactical medicine and provides the Ukrainian fighters improved individual kits NATO standard. In October 2015 she became a consultant to the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Health.

Earlier, acting health minister was Viktor Shafranskyy. After the appointment of Suprun Shafranskyy he retired from the post.
