Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summons Israeli envoy - source

Israel is asked to stop stirring hysteria.

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine summoned Israel's ambassador to Kyiv in connection with the cancellation of the visit of Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman to this country, Interfax-Ukraine reported on 26 December citing an unnamed source in the ministry.

"The Israeli ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine to provide explanations concerning the cancellation of the visit of the Ukrainian prime minister to Israel," the agency said.

During the meeting the Ukrainian side said "whipping up the anti-Ukrainian hysteria should be stopped".

Groysman had to postpone his visit to Israel, scheduled for December 27-28, due to the situation over the vote on the UN Security Council resolution which calls on Israel to stop building settlements in the Palestinian territories.

Some 14 members out of 15 members of the UN Security Council, including Ukraine, voted for the resolution, while the USA abstained but did not use its veto right.
