Technicians have repaired the power line leading to Avdiyivka, Donetsk Region, which was damaged as a result of massive shelling by pro-Russian militants, which started on 29 January.

"Repair crews have finally completed works to restore power supply to Avdiyivka," the press secretary of the Ukrainian president, Svyatoslav Tseholko, has said on Facebook.

According to him, the technicians and the explosives units of the State Emergencies Service are now back.

The head of the Donetsk military-civil administration, Pavlo Zhebrivskyy, briefed President Petro Poroshenko on the restored power supply.

The president thanked the repair crews, volunteers and everyone who contributed to supporting Avdiyivka.

He was particularly grateful to Ukrainian servicemen who "did their best to prevent the Russian Federation from provoking a humanitarian catastrophe and destabilizing the situation in Avdiyivka and along the entire front line."
