OSCE reports death of eight civilians in Donbas last week

30 civilians reported wounded.

Eight civilians were killed in Donbas last week (30 January - 5 February), the first deputy head of the OSCE mission in Ukraine, Alexander Hug, told a briefing on 10 February.

"The number of ceasefire violations fixed by CMMs has nearly tripled last week. The number of explosions last week from the banned under Minsk agreements weapons (mortars, tanks, artillery) increased six-fold. Of the total number of explosions, over 40% are from multiple rocket launchers. In this case, casualties among civilians are inevitable. We have confirmed 38 facts of casualties, including eight fatalities," he said.

The mission has recorded a significant decrease in the level of violence in Donbas since the beginning of this week.

Last week, three civilians were reported killed in the shelling of Avdiyivka and nine people were injured. There were reports about the death of civilians in the occupied territory.
