The Ukrainian army suffered no losses in Donbas on 7 May despite a sharp escalation in the situation on the front line, the Defence Ministry's spokesman for antiterrorist operation issues, Oleksandr Lysenko, has said.
"No Ukrainian troops were either killed or wounded as a result of active combat actions in the past day," he said.
He confirmed that militants started using heavy weapons in the key sectors of the front.
In the Luhansk sector, active combat actions took place near Krymske, Katerynivka, Novooleksandrivka, Novozvanivka and Troyitske. Luhansk militants fired around 260 mortars of 82-mm and 120-mm calibre, and 122-mm and 152-mm artillery shells. It's been long since we've heard such a barrage," he said.
There was a total of 20 shooting attacks, 19 of which involved heavy weapons.
In the Donetsk sector, it was not quiet on the Svitlodarsk salient abutting on Popasna District of Luhansk Region, in Verkhnyotoretske and near Avdiyivka. Pro-Russian militants launched 21 shooting attacks here, 12 of them with heavy weapons.
In the Mariupol sector, most militant attacks targeted Vodyane. Overall, there were 24 of them in this sector.
