Over the past day, the situation in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas has aggravated as militants significantly intensified the shelling of the ATO positions forces along the contact line and used weapons banned by the Minsk agreements.
As reported by the press center of ATO in Facebook, the situation got tense after 18:00 when as one soldier was killed, another one was wounded.
In the Donetsk sector, the militants three times from shelled the fortifications of Ukrainian military in the area of the Butivka coalmine with grenade launchers. The southern outskirts of Avdiyivka on several occasions were pounded with mortars, grenade launchers and small arms, and at about 22:00 - 120-mm mortars. The enemy used anti-aircraft gun and heavy machine guns in Troyitske. The positions of the ATO forces in the areas of Mayororske, Verkhnyotoretske and Zaitseve were shelled from mortars.
In the Luhansk sector, terrorists mostly used small arms. In the evening and night, the militants shelled the ATO positions in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Novotoshkivske and Stanytsya Luhanska.
"At around 7:00 pm, one Ukrainian soldier was lethally wounded by an enemy sniper," ATO HQ said.
The coastal sector was the quietest place, with the exception of Lebedynske in Talakivka, where terrorists used small arms and grenade launchers, respectively.
In total, the militants committed 34 violations of the ceasefire deal. Ukrainian army returned fire.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson expressed hope during a briefing on Tuesday that the "Normandy format" nations in cooperation with the US will be able to achieve progress in the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine.
