In January and October 2017, Ukraine increased imports of natural gas by 49.6% (by 905.9 bn to 3 mn cu m) over the same period last year – up to 11,778.4 bn cu m, Interfax-Ukraine reported on Thursday, 2 November with a reference to Ukrtransgaz. In January-October, 8,450.3 bn cu m of gas were imported from Slovak direction, from Hungarian – 2,316.3 bn cu m, Poland – 1,011.8 bn cu m.
Last month, gas imports amounted to 1,073.2 bn cu m., which is 30.5% less than 1,544.5 bn cu m in October last year.
Ukraine has not been import natural gas under a contract with Russian PJSC Gazprom since November, 2015, purchasing it exclusively on its western border.
Ukraine will be able to directly import Norwegian gas starting 2022.
