Parliament elects new ombudsperson

She replaced Valeriya Lutkovska in this role.

People's Front MP Lyudmyla Denisova has been elected parliament's new envoy for human rights (ombudsperson) with 280 votes.

She is the chairman of the parliamentary committee for social policy, employment and pensions. She was the social policy minister in the governments of Yuliya Tymoshenko (2007-2010) and Arseniy Yatsenyuk (2014).

She has no human rights record.

Denysova replaced previous ombudsperson Valeriya Lutkovska whose tenure expired on 27 April 2017.

Denysova told 112 Ukrayina TV that she tendered a letter on leaving the party as required by the parliamentary procedures.

The next person on the People's Front election list to get an MP mandate is Mykhaylo Pobochykh.
