Photos of Russian opposition journalist Arkadiy Babchenko, who was killed in Kyiv yesterday, have been taped to the fence of the Russian embassy in Kyiv.

According to an LB.ua correspondent, the event was organized by the journalist’s friends and family.

Babchenko was shot in the back in his apartment in Kyiv. His wife was in the bathroom when she heard the shots. She went out of the bathroom to see her husband in blood. He died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.

The Ukrainian police consider Babchenko’s professional activities and public position to be the main reasons for the killing. Although it is believed that Babchenko received threats from Russia, he never reported them to police or asked for protection.
