Ukraine's population decreased by 138,300 people in January-July 2018, down to 42,248,100 on 1 August, the State Statistics Service has said.
The ratio of births to deaths is 57 to 100.
In 2017, the population shrank by 198,100 people down to 42,386,400.
Ukraine is planning to hold a census in 2020. According to the previous one held in 2001, Ukraine had 48.457 million people.
