Ukrainian rock singer and civil activist Svyatoslav Vakarchuk has brushed off the rumours about his possible plans to run for president.
"I would like to say it once again: the [presidential] post is of no interest to me. I am interested in changes in the country," Ukrayinska Pravda quoted him as saying at a public lecture in Kharkiv on 29 October.
Vakarchuk said that the president's is not "a role you play in a series", perhaps hinting at comedian Volodymyr Zelenskyy's possible bid. He added that the president is a "serious matter".
"Let us stop all the discussions on whether I'm going to run for president or not. It is not something we should be discussing today, I am offended by such questions," he said.
Vakarchuk also said that he hardly stood a chance "to change something" all on his own at the moment. "I think that we can only achieve something by joining our efforts," he said.
