US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on 6 January to discuss postponement of his trip to Ukraine, the website of the State Department quoted spokesperson Morgan Ortagus as saying.
"The two discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Secretary appreciated Ukraine’s condemnation of the attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad. Secretary Pompeo reiterated the strong U.S. support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and underscored our long-term strategic partnership," it said.
Pompeo was to visit Ukraine on 3 January but postponed his trip because of the attack on the US embassy in Iraq.
