The Orthodox Church of Ukraine has said that only priests and church staff will be allowed to take part in services due to the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Believers are asked to pray remotely, its website reads.

"During such services laity can take part in a general prayer using remote communication means," the church said.

Services cannot be fully stopped while churches must remain open to personal visits by believers provided they follow hygiene rules and keep a "social distance".
