President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, spoke about the details of the negotiations with Lukashenko. Before this, presidents have not talked in two years.
According to the President, the conversation was substantive.
“I explained to him in detail the impossibility of our collision. I do not want missiles, planes, and helicopters flying to Ukraine from Belarus. I do not want the military to enter Ukraine from Belarus. And he assured me of this”, - said the President in his address.
He noted that his task as the head of state is to protect the country, and during the last few days, we see how this task is being done.
“Oleksandr Lukashenko asked me that Ukrainian and Russian delegations meet on the Pripyat River. I emphasize: without any preconditions. I will be truthful, as always: I do not believe in the outcome of this meeting, but let them try. So that no citizen of Ukraine would have any doubt that I, as president, did not try to stop the war, when there was even a small, but still a chance” - Zelensky said.
He noted that by joint efforts we will defend the state as long as “our guys are there, president - here, head of the Office - here, Prime Minister here, army here, commander-in-chief here.”
“You and I, we must act programmatically to achieve our goal. And our goal is our territorial integrity. You have seen our position one hundred percent. It is the unconditional defense of national statehood”, - Zelenskyi said.
