The British oil and gas company BP, which owns 19.75% of Rosneft, has decided to lose its share due to Russia's military invasion in Ukraine. This was reported by the League with reference to the Verkhovna Rada website.
Also, BP CEO Bernard Looney and former CEO Bob Dudley left Rosneft's board of directors immediately.
"Russia's attack on Ukraine is an act of aggression that has tragic consequences for the whole region. BP has been working in Russiawith its excellent Russian counterparts for over 30 years . But this military action is a fundamental change. As a result, after a careful analysis of the BP board, it was concluded that our cooperation with Rosneft, a state-owned enterprise, simply could not continue, ”said Helge Lund, chairman of the BP board of directors.
BP CEO Bernard Looney, in his turn, said that the company is exploring opportunities to help Ukraine solve humanitarian problems caused by Russian aggression.
BP is one of the largest foreign investors in Russia. Its main asset in Russia is a share in Rosneft's capital.
It will be recalled that the world's largest manufacturers of Intel and AMD processors have stopped supplying their products to Russia.
