Th President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has presented 12 servicemen who defended Ukraine from the aggression of the Russian Federation with state awards.
The president stated this in his video appeal.
"Sincere condolences to all those who lost relatives and friends in this war. Eternal memory to those who died. Eternal glory to everyone who defends our freedom! Before addressing you, I signed a decree to grant the title of Hero of Ukraine to 12 our defenders ", - said Zelenskyy.
State awards are given to:
- Lieutenant Colonel Eduard Vagorovskyy (posthumously). He died while removing our aircraft from a missile strike. He gave others the opportunity to rise into the air;
- Major Dmytro Kolomiets (posthumously). He rescued his brothers in arms, by distracting enemy aircraft fire and was shot down by an enemy plane;
- Lieutenant Colonel Henadiy Matulyak (posthumously). He eliminated accumulation of enemy's military vehicles in Gostomel;
- Lieutenant Vitaliy Movchan (posthumously). He destroyed two enemy aircraft in the air battle ;
- Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko (posthumously). He died in air combat while distracting enemy's aircraft;
- Senior Lieutenant Viacheslav (posthumously). Thanks to his courageous actions, the entire crew of the brigade's planes took off in Vasylkiv, and this saved them from a missile strike"
- Senior lieutenant Andriy Gerus. He shot down an enemy's IL-76 over Kropyvnytskyy what prevented the landing of Russian troops with weapons;
- Brigadier General Dmytro Krasylnykov, Commander of the Operational and Tactical Group "North". For two days he fought off the continuous attack, saved people and vehicles. He did not let the enemy pass from Luhansk region to Kharkiv
- Lieutenant colonel Andriy Kruglov. He withdrew the Buk SAM unit from enemy attacks and personally destroyed two Russian helicopters and one plane;
- To Colonel Olexander Mostovyy. He shot down Russian IL-76 near Vasylkov, as well as two Mi-24 helicopters, what prevented troops with weapons from landing;
- Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol. In the battles for Volnovakha, he saved our men from the encirclement and organized a successful counterattack. He brought people out from under enemy's attack. He is defending Mariupol extremely effectively;
- To the colonel of medical service Khoroshun Eduard. He personally organized the defense of the besieged military medical center and conducted the evacuation of the wounded.
