Russian troops entered Kherson during the night; they have captured the river port and railway station, mayor, Ihor Kolyhaev, said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian flag hangs over the Kherson Regional State Administration building, according to locals. “There are Russians everywhere in the city now. But they have not yet tried to seize power. Mostly they attacked the stores. It seems they have run out of all the resources and reserves and have entered the city to survive. The only thing they tell the locals: stay at home, hide. There is a lot of tension in the city,” locals say.
Isolated single explosions and shots are heard in the city.
Mayor also asked the Ukrainian President to organize a green corridor to “collect hundreds of bodies in the city area”. There is also a need to bring food to Kherson - the storage warehouses are located outside the city.
In his comment to Radio Free Europe, Kolyhaev clarified that there are dead and wounded among the military and civilian population. Russian terrorists are shooting at the schools, high-rises, there were several explosions in the city.
