Earlier today, it was also reported that Tokayev had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and had called on Russia to compromise with Ukraine.
Russia declared war on Ukraine under the pretext of a "special operation in Donbas". Prior to that, Putin ordered the deployment of troops to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. On February 22, Tokayev had said that Kazakhstan would not recognize the "independence" of the so called “DNR” and “LNR” together with Russia and denied the information that CSTO peacekeepers were sent to the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk.
Since February 24, the Russian army has been shelling and bombing Ukrainian cities, destroying their infrastructure and killing civilians.
