Cogent Magistral internet provider stopped its services for Russian internet providers, this will cause county’s isolation from the rest of the online world, informed by the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.

It will decrease the quality of the access to the foreign internet services from Russia - he said.

“We afraid that our infrastructure might be used for cyber war and fakes spreading - Executive director of Cogent Dave Sheffer said - We truly believe in neutral network as well as we believe in internet hack refusal, this was a hard decision we made”.

This decision was made after a drastic increase of the traffic within the Cogent infrastructure. Thus may be as a result of a big number of cyber attacks.

Cogent transfers around 25% of the world's internet traffic. “Rostelecom”, “Vympelcom”, “MegaFon”, “Yandex” and VK used Cogent service in Russia.

As previously informed, after russia started its aggression against Ukraine on 24th of February, the President of USA Joseph Baiden announced sanctions against russia, such as export ban of hightech products. Intel, AMD and TSMC, World biggest processor producers stopped delivery of products to Russia after sanctions were implemented.
