Contrary to the agreements reached, on 7 March, the opening of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from besieged cities in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson regions was disrupted by the Russian Federation once again.
This was stated by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko.
He accented that the Russian armed forces continue to launch the missile and bomb strikes on Kyiv, Mariupol, Volnovakha, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and other settlements which makes the safe departure of humanitarian convoys with Ukrainian and foreign citizens impossible as well as the delivery of medicines and food.
“Russia must stop violating agreements, stop spreading misinformation, and manipulating the lives of civilians. Evacuation through humanitarian corridors is possible only with full compliance with the ceasefire regime, which the Ukrainian side is ready for,” – the Foreign Ministry said.
The agency added, that Moscow’s attempts to force civilians from the besieged cities to leave for Russia and Belarus are considered unacceptable by Ukraine, “given the high probability of provocations, including taking evacuees hostage or using them as human shields by the Russian army”.
Ukraine appeals to the countries, including those which leaders keep in touch with president Putin to make every effort to force Russia to provide a ceasefire regime for humanitarian corridors opening and large-scale humanitarian catastrophe prevention.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine continues to be in constant contact with the embassies of foreign countries, which citizens are in the war zones and provides them with maximum assistance for the evacuation of their citizens through Ukrainian territory”, - Nikolenko added.
