Lviv City Mayor Andriy Sadovy said that the capacity of city institutions to provide housing for internally displaced people (IDPs) has been exhausted. This was reported by the Lviv City Council press service.

"Today, Lviv has become a safehaven for 200,000 people who moved to Lviv, hiding from bombings and missiles attacks. People who have settled here receive hot food, basic necessities, and we wholly arrange their lives and provide everything they need. This is an extremely heavy burden on Lviv, and today we are at the limit of our capabilities, "Sadovyi said.

The mayor noted that the city had involved 440 cultural and educational institutions and 85 religious communities to provide shelter to IDPs.

"People need to know that they are not alone." - How Lviv is helping IDPs

"We need big tents so that we can help people, we need these tents to be equipped with appropriate sanitation and cooking facilities. Together with education and culture professionals, we will develop special programs to help these children that are here with us to have the most stable life ", - Sadovy added.

As a reminder, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, about 1.5 million Ukrainians, mostly women and children, have crossed the western border. It is possible to leave to the west from Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv via Ukrzaliznytsia evacuation trains.
