As a result of the missile strike on Vasylkiv this morning, the airfield is completely destroyed, Natalia Balasynovych, the town’s mayor, said.
“Today, at around 7 a.m., the enemy forces shelled Vasylkiv, eight missiles hit the airfield. As a result of the missile strikes, the airfield is completely destroyed, the runway was destroyed, the ammunition depot detonated, and they continue to detonate,” she said.
One of the missiles hit the ammunition depot.
“The fuel depot is also destroyed, which liquidates the operations of our airport,” Balasynovych reported.
Balasynovych urged the locals to stay at home and in the bomb shelters. As of 10.50 a.m., there was still a threat of missile strike.
After the airstrike, the fuel depot near Vasylkiv caught fire. The police are determining whether there are damages to the nearby houses. The information on the victims and injured are being clarified.
